THE ESS FOUNDATION 8TH ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

Hundreds of golfers teed off at the ESS Foundation 8th Annual Golf Classic on September 29. After a great day on the green, the tournament raised funds to support The ESS Foundation, the employee-owner-led ESS Companies non-profit.

The Golf Classic brought together employee-owners, industry partners, and community members for a lively competition and commitment to the future of construction. After two shotgun flights and many on-course games, the best part of the day was celebrating the ESS Foundation’s lasting impact by recognizing the scholarships awarded to the future leaders of our industry.

HONORING A LEGACY: THE JUSTIN GAY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Among the scholarships recognized was the Justin Gay Memorial Scholarship, created in memory of former employee-owner Justin Gay, who tragically passed away in 2021. The scholarship honors Justin’s dedication to the future construction workforce and his passion for the ESS Foundation.

This year’s three recipients — Madison Allen, Owen Lockard, and Addison Powell — were presented with a large commemorative check at the Golf Classic to highlight the achievement.

“As a woman pursuing a career in diesel mechanics, the ESS Foundation has gotten me one step closer to making history,” said Madison Allen.

A YEAR OF IMPACT

This year, the ESS Foundation awarded more scholarships than ever before, with 62 recipients totaling $97,500. Since 2019, the ESS Foundation has awarded more than 140 scholarships totaling approximately $223,000 to students pursuing careers in the construction industry.

The Golf Classic is a landmark event for the ESS Foundation, as a majority of scholarship funds come from those raised during the event. A day of birdies and Happy Gilmore-style swinging creates a real impact on the future of our industry.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERS

The Golf Classic is possible thanks to our best-in-class partners and sponsors. We appreciate everyone who showed up to support the next generation of construction professionals.
