The ESS Foundation is proud to support Springdale Public Schools' Heavy Equipment Training Program with a $15,000 grant

The ESS Foundation is proud to support Springdale Public Schools’ Heavy Equipment Training Program with a $15,000 grant, provided as $7,500 per year over a two-year period. The program offers hands-on training to prepare students for entry-level careers as construction heavy civil equipment operators. As the ESS Foundation’s first grant in Arkansas, the sponsorship represents an important milestone in expanding support for future workforce initiatives.

“This donation by the ESS Foundation validates the Springdale School District’s commitment to providing talent pipelines that meet the growing demand for skilled trades workers,” said Rodney Ellis, Director of Springdale Public Schools. “The contribution supports the Heavy Equipment Training Program and provides student opportunities to develop the skills required for entry into construction heavy civil equipment operator positions. The Springdale School District truly values the partnership with the ESS Foundation.”

Hands-On Learning Across the Trades

The ESS Foundation continues to invest in workforce development initiatives that prepare future construction leaders and strengthen the skilled trades workforce. Through the Springdale Trade & Industrial Sponsorship Program, students gain hands-on experience in heavy equipment operation, concrete forming, electrical work, and other trade disciplines while developing the communication, teamwork, and professional skills essential for long-term career success. The program combines education with experience, helping students explore rewarding careers in the skilled trades.

“The ESS Foundation is proud to invest in Springdale Public Schools’ workforce development initiatives through the Career and Technical Program,” said Tim Paulson, ESS Foundation President. “We support a shared mission of developing the next generation of skilled trades professionals, strengthening connections between education and industry, and advancing innovation and visibility within the construction sector. We believe these investments create meaningful opportunities for students while helping build a stronger workforce for our communities and industry.”

The sponsorship helps Springdale Public Schools expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in the skilled trades, with a focus on heavy equipment operation. As part of this commitment, the ESS Foundation will help supply trade camp materials and engage directly with students throughout the program, including two Lunch & Learn sessions led by Emery Sapp & Sons employee-owners, focused on career pathways in the skilled trades.

Building a Stronger Workforce Together

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to driving workforce participation and opening doors to the construction industry. As demand for skilled workers continues to grow, investments like this help prepare the next generation of professionals through hands-on training, industry exposure, and meaningful career opportunities. The ESS Foundation remains committed to strengthening the workforce of tomorrow.
